Understanding and Supporting Dyslexia in the Classroom

1.5–2 hours — Whole-school or group session with Dr Martin Bloomfield —
This interactive training, led by global dyslexia expert Dr Martin Bloomfield, explores what dyslexia truly is—addressing misconceptions, multiple definitions, neurological insights, and lived experiences of dyslexic children and adults.

Staff will gain a deeper understanding of how dyslexia presents differently in individuals, recognise common traits, and learn simple, adaptive approaches to create more inclusive classrooms. The session equips staff with practical strategies to ensure all learners can achieve successful outcomes.

Teaching and Learning to Enable All Learners to Thrive

3 x 1–1.5 hour interactive workshops with Dr Martin Bloomfield, Sandra Tibbles, and Victoria Raynor —

• Setting Goals, Promoting Executive Function, and Providing Feedback
  Strategies for setting clear success criteria, supporting task management, and giving timely, constructive feedback. Focus on building self-reflection, intrinsic motivation, and goal-setting, particularly for learners with executive functioning challenges or low self-esteem.

• Making Learning Relevant and Encouraging Active Participation
  Linking classroom content to real-world contexts and project-based learning to maximise engagement. Includes strategies for fostering active learning, questioning, collaboration, and emotional intelligence.

• Promoting Critical Thinking, Problem-Solving, and Metacognition
  Encouraging learners to think critically, analyse information, and solve problems independently while building resilience, perseverance, and a growth mindset.
