Example Projects

The Multi Academy Trust was facing significant challenges related to the low attendance of SEND students and other vulnerable learners with additional needs. Staff morale was low, with many teachers and support staff lacking confidence in effectively meeting diverse learner needs.

Behavioural issues were increasingly disrupting teaching and learning, while concerns around safeguarding were rising, creating an environment of stress and uncertainty.

What was the problem Beyond Inclusion was asked to help solve?

We began with a thorough audit and review of existing policies and their implementation, identifying gaps and inconsistencies.

Our consultancy then delivered targeted training to upskill teachers and support staff in quality-first teaching and adaptive strategies tailored to individual learner needs.

We worked collaboratively to develop alternative pathways and bespoke provision for the most vulnerable students, ensuring that well-being and supervision for staff were embedded into everyday practice.

Crucially, we facilitated inclusive mechanisms to capture and incorporate the voices of students and their parents, allowing for contextually relevant approaches that fostered buy-in from school communities.

The Trust sought our expertise due to the unique combination of three notable specialists, offering a comprehensive perspective that spans ethics, safeguarding, and SEND.

Our approach is rooted in evidence-based practice and research, complemented by extensive lived and professional experience both inside and outside the education sector. This blend ensured a well-rounded, practical, and ethical consultancy tailored to their complex challenges.

Feedback received from the client and how we know our work had impact

“The transformation in our schools has been significant. Attendance for SEND and vulnerable learners is improving steadily, and our most recent staff survey indicates increased confidence and capability in meeting diverse needs.

Behavioural disruptions have decreased overall and this has in turn created a more positive and productive learning environment throughout our schools. Importantly, staff wellbeing and safeguarding awareness have become embedded priorities, supported by ongoing supervision and reflective practice.

Working with Beyond Inclusion Ltd on this project has not just changed processes, it has changed mindsets, and we feel confident that we are now fostering a culture of inclusion where every member of our community feels heard, valued, and empowered.”

Africa Dyslexia Conference 2025 Support Project

The Africa Dyslexia Organisation invited Beyond Inclusion to partner because of our reputation for championing inclusion through evidence-based practice, lived experience, and impactful training.

Our expertise in Dyslexia, Neurodiversity, and inclusion, combined with a values-led and collaborative approach, positioned us as a trusted partner to help ensure the first ever Dyslexia Conference in Africa would have lasting impact. Working alongside UNESCO, UNICEF, and other partners, we contributed a practical, ethical, and internationally informed perspective, Dr Martin Bloomfield providing a valuable keynote and contribution to press and publicity campaigns and an interactive panel.

Dyslexia remains under-identified and widely misunderstood across many African countries, leaving countless children, young people and adults without the recognition or support they need to thrive. People often face stigma, a lack of training, and limited access to resources, resulting in missed opportunities and inequitable outcomes.

The need was clear: a platform to raise awareness, challenge misconceptions, and bring together global and local expertise to inspire practical action.

What was the problem the conference was aiming to solve?

Why they chose Beyond Inclusion to work with them

We supported the conference by shaping its content and contributing keynote expertise under the strapline “Changing Minds, Inspiring Action.” As part of our partnership, Dr Martin Bloomfield provided a valuable in-person keynote at the conference itself and carried out remote and in-person press and publicity campaign work and was a key expert during an interactive panel.

Our role included ensuring that international research was translated into meaningful, context-specific strategies for teachers, families, businesses and policymakers. The keynote enabled the lived experience of a dyslexic thinker to be heard, ensuring the conference was not only about research and ideas, but about real stories and practical solutions.

By triangulating global evidence, research and the local context, and the voices of Neurodivergent thinkers, we helped ensure the event was not just a one-off gathering, but a catalyst for sustainable change.

“The first Africa Dyslexia Conference was groundbreaking.”

“I am writing to express my sincere admiration for your presentation on "Inclusion is a Right." The depth of your work and the insights you shared were truly amazing. Your talk has given me a great deal to reflect on, particularly how we can re-engineer our educational systems and curricula to better understand and embrace the unique differences that dyslexic individuals bring.

It was particularly inspiring to learn that you are also dyslexic and that despite being last in your class during elementary school, you are now bringing such a rich and valuable perspective to parents and institutions. Your personal story is a powerful testament to the potential of dyslexic minds.

Your presentation left many of us at the conference talking long after it was over. I believe your work is vital and should be shared globally. I hope to see you take this important conversation across Africa and other parts of the world.

Thank you again for your incredible work.”
